About

About

We’ve built a reputation for excellence through a balanced commitment of quality design and personal service. Our most inspiring work has been when we collaborate with clients that share our passion for design and want to create homes and buildings tailored to their needs and fit within their environment. Sketchline’s services integrate architecture, interior design and element design through a collaborative, coordinated and cohesive process. We are fortunate to work with extraordinary clients, organizations and individuals with ambitious ideas. This has developed into a process and design approach that values collaboration with clients, consultants, builders and designers. Great design comes from the synthesis of many ideas. Each of the collaborators in the design process can have a meaningful part in balancing the client’s goals of aesthetics, functionality and finance.

Approach

Collaboration is at the core of everything we do. Our approach relies on a synergy between our clientele and the design team to produce inspirational designs. Listening to our client, studying the site and analyzing the client’s project budget always preempt sketching ideas. All our designs are the product of understanding the goals and the desires of each client. By employing careful analysis and excellent planning, each design by Sketchline Architecture incorporates the needs and desires of each client in an elegant, imaginative and captivating solution. Our design work only begins when we fully understand the client’s goals. Our design process breaks down, fundamentally, into three major phases:

Schematic Design: In this phase we listen to the client. We work to balance the client’s goals of aesthetics, functionality and finance. In collaboration with the client, we will produce a program of spaces within the home or building. We will study the site to include full zoning code analysis and reviewing any architecture review board requirements, if applicable. We will develop design concepts and ideas that will be hand sketches and computerized drawings depicting floor plans, elevations and unique features.

Design Development: This phase takes the work and decisions made in Schematic Design and starts to fine tune the design to conform to the client’s goals and budget. It is also during this time that we work with clients to select interior and exterior materials, finishes, fixtures, lighting, as well as coordinating with interior design professionals, contractors and landscape architects.

Construction Documents: Since most of the major decisions have been determined at this point, we start the process of construction drawings and specifications to give the design the technical knowledge to communicate design intent and for the purposes of construction.
